How do you....

retire your scriptures?Do you throw them away? I can't bring myself to just toss the word of the Lord into the trash can. Do you burn them, like the flag? These are my seminary scriptures, so I guess you could say they're a few years old. These are the ones I read from almost every night. Can you tell? They've definitely seen better days, and they're becoming a bit of a nuisance to try to read from. But how do I get rid of them? Maybe I should just store them away somewhere.
How do you dispose of old scriptures?

Lead Me

Wow! I heard this song on the radio the other night--Air 1, my favorite station.

It's called "Lead Me", by Sanctus Real.

The line that gets me the most, is this one:

"Don't leave me hungry for love."----man, that kills me!

(not sure why it's not full screen--sorry)

How many times have I left my family members hungry for my love?

I'm afraid it's more than I'd like to admit. How many times does my husband get neglected so I can focus my attention elsewhere?

How many times do I pass up some playtime with my kids so I can do the laundry, or the dishes, or whatever?

More things to work on,

Beautiful song.

Have a great Friday!

And the winners are.....

Are you curious? On the edge of your seats with anticipation?

First off, thanks everybody for commenting and taking part in my giveaway. Thanks for all your kind words over the past two years as well. It's been fun!

So, without further ado, here are our winners.

Ok, here's what I've got so far!

So, here's what I've come up with so far for my giveaway. I worked on this today, and I'm pretty pleased with it. I'm going to have to make one for myself now.
It's really a good sized purse. 13"x18"x4" I think are the dimensions. It easily fits a larger binder.
I made it with lots of pockets....

Hope somebody likes it. It's going into the giveaway pot.

I also found these cute little earrings in a tin. I may have to go back and buy myself a pair!
Some cute little post-its.

I love this box of blank cards. The colors are so fresh.

Of course, there must be some candy involved. I'm sure I'll be adding some chocolate as well!

I love these fun little umbrella straws. Summer will be here before we know it! Your drink needs an umbrella!
So, I love notebooks and journals, and I really like this one.
I'm still looking for more things to add though.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to do three giveaways: my little menagerie of items; Sher's awesome CD; and Annette's useful book.
Two more days! Don't forget to comment.

Opinions please!!!

So, I'm so very thrilled that two awesome and talented blog friends have been so kind to offer a couple items towards my blogiversary/blogoversary/blogaversary(????) giveaway. I mean, how sweet is that anyway?
Sher from Sher the Love, is an amazingly talented pianist who has a wonderful CD of music out. They are her own arrangements with several songs that she has written, and it's a beautiful CD. You can go listen for yourself---I have a link over there on the sidebar where you can go listen. See it? Right below my word for the year (better, not bitter). You can also click this cute little button to go to her music website.

Solitude

Sher made this wonderful offer:
"So, would you be interested in me donating a CD for your giveaway?".........and then she added: "I also have a songbook (with sheet music) if you're interested."
Well, I'm totally interested!! So sweet. Thanks Sher!

And then there's Annette.
Annette Lyon is a published author with several awards to her name already. She has some great books out that I really want to get my hands on. I see a trip to Deseret Books in my future.
Check out her website here and her blog here.
Well, Annette made this sweet offer:
"If you want to give away one of my grammar books, I'll donate one. " ----Sweet!!!

Annette's book "There, Their, They're--A No-tears Guide to Grammar From the Word Nerd" is definitely a book I could use. I can barely remember all those grammar lessons from middle school (click on the pic for a little more info). I think it would make a great addition to anybody's library.

So, what do I need your opinion on?
Well, with these two fantastic additions to my meager collection of items (pictures forthcoming), I was wondering if I should just have one ginormous grand prize, or should I break it up a little? You know, spread the wealth a bit?
What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know. Your opinion counts as an entry.

I have seen the light (and I'd like my sunglasses please)

Have you ever wondered about that part.... "Lighter than at noonday." ?

(Joseph Smith History 1: 30 While I was thus in the act of calling upon God, I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, standing in the air, for his feet did not touch the floor. )

I have.

The noonday sun is pretty bright. How can anything be much brighter than that? I mean, can you even imagine anything brighter?

Well, I got my eyes dilated this week at the optometrist. I don't think I've ever had them dilated before.

Wow!!! Now I get it. Yeah, things can get a whole lot brighter. Amazing. Kind of makes me wonder what else we don't really experience in our limited capacities.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway--see the post below!

Holy cow! Has it been two years already?

Well, first of all Happy St. Patricks Day everybody!

I can't believe that two years ago, I entered the blogosphere.
Here are my famous (or not) first bloggy words.......
~~~~~~
My First Blog
O.K. so, I thought I'd give this blog thing a try. I'm not sure that I have anything to say that needs to be out there for the whole world to dissect, but I do think it's a cool way to kind of keep a journal. Maybe this is how I'll finally get around to scrapbooking. I've got a drawer full of supplies, but I haven't done anything with it. So, this is my virtual scrapbook.
~~~~~~

Funny, looks like I found plenty of things to ramble about--although I've slowed down considerably here lately. My drawer is still full of unused scrapbook supplies too.

Well, if you've read me for very long you know I like to do a giveaway for my blogoversary.
So in keeping with that tradition I'd like to announce my second annual Blogoversary giveaway!!!! (cue the trumpets)

So, what am I giving away? Hmmm, I don't know yet. I just decided to do this ten minutes ago when I realized what the date was.
Maybe I'll get creative with the sewing machine. Or perhaps I'll hit Target and the Dollar store and pick out some of my faves, like I usually do. We'll see.

What do you have to do????

Just leave a comment. Don't post about it on your own blogs, I think I owe it to me true bloggy friends (and that includes anyone who likes to read but not comment) to contain this giveaway to just them, no interlopers this time!
Comment as much as you like, each comment is worth an entry. But, you know--make those comments juicy!

I think I'll give ya' a week.
Contest ends next Wednesday at midnight!

so close I can taste it

OK, so we are pretty much done with the kids' rooms. It was all painted and moved around by Friday, but we're still waiting on one of those beds. Why it takes so much longer for one of them when they were both ordered at the same time, I just don't understand.

So, here's the before (again) of what was the boys' room...And part of the after. Here's Haley's new loft bed.
We really like them a lot. I can't wait for Ashley's to come in. It's supposed to be in by today, but we haven't received an email yet saying to come pick it up.
Daredevil red on her walls. I like it.
We need to put some shelves up on that wall there, at the end of her bed. But, it's going to have to wait till we have a little more $$$$.
We're also hoping to get them both their own little homework desk to go under as well. Again, more funding needed. :)Haley's is the brown dresser, the white one--Ashley's will of course go under her loft bed when it arrives. Over in this space here.....
What do you think of her Dragonfruit pink?
I like it. There's about half a can left, just enough probably for my laundry room. Hmmmmm.....

And here is the before of the boys' new room.
It was Ashley's and Haley's.....

And, voila!!!!
The after shots.

We left the walls beige, which was the plan. I was thinking about doing big red dots with the remainder of Haley's red paint, but decided against it.
We found these cute car decals at Target instead.
I like them, and so do the boys.

A huge improvement I think.
And praise the Lord! The kitchen table and the kitchen island are finally cleared off again.
Just a small miracle there.

Um excuse me?

What happened to January and February?
