Jason's trippy eye

OK, you have to enlarge this picture to see what I'm talking about.
The top left corner of Jason's left eye is different than the rest of his eyes.
(say that 3 times fast!)
This isn't just a trick of the camera either, you can see it normally too.
Jon thinks it's really cool. He thinks the girls are really gonna' dig it.

flashback friday

OK, I was going to try and post a flashback picture of all my kids from when they were babies with this post. Unfortunately, I don't have any on disc. they're all hard copies, and we don't have our scanner anymore. So, I was going to take a picture of my pictures and see if that worked, but my camera won't focus properly on them, and there's glare and on and on and on. So, I'll have to do that post at a later time. I do have two discs that my aunt Myrtle Rae made of all of my grandma Allen's pictures, which is totally cool. I just have to get my mom to go through it with me and put names with faces on a lot of them. Anywhoo, I found these pictures of Jon and me; and Jon, Ashley and me. So I'll post these for now, and get the others scanned so I can post those too. Wow, this is about 15 years and 50 pounds ago!!!

What I accomplished today...

Before

and after

The after shot, is also kind of another before shot. Watch, tomorrow, possibly the day after tomorrow, it will once again look like the before shot. Why is it so hard to just keep the surfaces clear?

Aw mom! You've got to be kidding?

What would you suggest?

OK, I need suggestions for feeding my little guys. They are in the finger food stage now, and I really need some ideas on what to feed them. I want to give them more than just the baby food from the jars. It's been too long I guess. So far, I've been trying out toast, bread, cheerios, shredded cheese, small fruit dices, pasta. What else do you guys feed your little ones? I'm trying to stick to soft choices that are easy to gum and don't require too much chewing.

Visiting Teaching gone bad?

OK, so last night Sister Stirling and I did our visiting teaching, yayyy!!. We visited with Sister Bell, got there about 8:00, we chatted, and chatted, and chatted. We left about 10:00!!! A two hour visit? That's crazy! I totally enjoyed the visit. But poor Nicole! She must have been thinking, "would you guys go home already!!" Wendy jokes that this is what happens when you have four kids and never get out. LOL
Anyway, here's the truly "gone bad"? part--when I get home, the door is locked. I didn't take my keys. So, I quietly tap on the door. No way do I want to wake up two sleeping babies. Well, my sweet, sweet daughters open the door, both of them are in tears. Jon had already gone to bed, because he has to be up early for work, and they were afraid to go to sleep because they didn't know if I had my keys or not and were afraid I'd be locked out. I'm still not too sure why they were crying. I think they thought I was sleeping over?
Ah well.

LaDawn.

So these are questions about my hubby (and a little about me too, I guess). So here goes.

1. What's his name? Jonathon Perry

2. Who eats more? depends on what's being served. If it's spaghetti or lasagne, I guess most main dish fare-then it's usually him. If it's dessert, it's definitely me.

3. Who said "I love you" first? I'm ashamed to say I don't really remember. I think it was him though, just because I'm not brave like that. It takes a lot to go out on that limb.

4. Who's taller? definitely Jon, at 6 ft, he towers over my by six inches.

5. Who is smarter? Even match? I have the book smarts, Jon's got the street smarts i.e. more common sense.

6. Who is more sensitive? I guess I'd have to say me, but he is pretty open with his emotions.

7. Who does the laundry? I do, unless he's in need of something that I haven't gotten around to. Let me just say though, that he is better at the laundry than I am, but somehow I'm still the one doing it.

8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Currently, I do. It just depends on how the bedroom is arranged. We enjoy rearranging all the house furniture frequently.

9. Who pays the bills? I write them out, but we both bring home the bacon. Although, he does work harder for it, and more hours, my job is only part-time and couldn't be easier.

10. Who cooks more? I'd say we're pretty even on this one. On my days off, I usually do, unless we're having one of Jon's specialties. He usually fixes dinner on the weekends when I work. He's a pretty good cook too. he always does the turkey at Thanksgiving, and it's always great!

11. What meals do you cook together? Thanksgiving dinner--Jon handles the turkey, and I take care of all the sides and dessert.
There's also this fantastic salad called Panzanella that we make together (I'll have to post the recipe on my food blog). Jon makes the dressing and home-made croutons, and I chop all the veggies.

12. Who is more stubborn? Of course I'm going to say him, but I'm sure he'd argue that it's me. Really, "stubborn" isn't one of the character traits I'd associate with Jon, so it's probably truly me.

13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? I don't think either of us has ever admitted that, at least not to each other. (truth is, we rarely have an argument. I know lots of people say that's not healthy, but I guess we both just dislike confrontation so much, we figure whatever we might want to argue about just isn't worth it. We have been angry at each other, but we don't fight, we just give each other the silent treatment until it blows over- and this even rarely happens).

14. Who is more clean? Well, I do most of the cleaning, so I guess I'm gonna' go with myself on this one. Then again, I think it's usually my mess or the kids' mess that I'm cleaning up. (sigh) OK I guess he's actually the neater one!

15. Who has more siblings? Me- two brothers and a sister. Jon has one brother. I have more extended family as well.

16. Who wears the pants in the relationship? Definitely Jon, he's all manly man. No, really, we're pretty equal. We don't do, or decide to do anything of importance without first checking with each other.

17. What do you like to do together? Just hang out and watch videos; go to the movies; go out to eat; bowling; shopping. Pretty much everything.

18. Who eats more sweets? Definitely me

19. Guilty Pleasure? (Jon) PS3, ipod, anything electronic, Twix, Reeses, Dr. Pepper, frozen Cheetos, golf, fishing. (me) Pepsi, Cadbury fruit & nut bars, collecting scrapbooking supplies, magazine subscriptions.

20. How did you meet? we met at Kmart where we both worked.

21. Who kissed who first? He kissed me, in the park, after we made up from our first break-up.

22. Who proposed? He did, Taped the ring to the bathroom mirror, and wrote in lipstick "will you marry me?"

23. His best feature? smile, eyes, thick wavy hair.

OK, I tag... Jamie, Merrianne, and Heather. Can't wait to learn more about you guys!!

Duh'!!!

OK, so Sunday, Bro. York stopped me and asked if he and the bishop could visit with me this week (tonight, Tuesday). I said sure, 5:30 would be fine. So, tonight I'm at home, waiting for them to come by. About 5:45 bro. York calls to remind me of our appointment. That's when it occurs to me that perhaps I'm supposed to meet the bishop at the church. Duh'!!
So, I say, "I'll be right over" and I rush out the door. As I'm walking into the church, I think to myself, "maybe I should have put on a skirt or something?" I'm wearing walking shorts and an ok top.
I sure hope I didn't come across as disrespectful.

So, all week (well all 2 days since Sunday) I've been wondering what kind of calling I'm going to be getting.
Well, that wasn't it at all.
Bishop just wanted to sort of touch base and see how I'm doing. It's been brought to his attention, that I've been considering getting myself ready to go to the temple. So, he kind of went through the list of questions with me, to help me see if there are any areas I need to work on. Of course, there are. So, hopefully over the next month or so I can work on them, and I think I have a little thinking to do as well, to determine if there are any other issues/areas I need to work on before entering the Lords house.
Wish me luck.

I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate Mondays!!

My house falls apart on the weekends. Not that it's fabulous to begin with during the week. But by Monday morning it looks like this. (This picture is not my house, I'm too embarrassed to show you my house). I think my house is actually worse than this.

But, I guess it could be worse. It could look like this....!!!!!

Lysol please!!!

I am so tired of germs and viruses and bacteria oh my!!
Justin has been throwing up since Thursday morning at 4:55. Poor little boy. Friday he was so lethargic, and add in diahhrea to the mix. JOY!! I took him into the childrens clinic this morning. The nurse says there is a virus going around. So the doctor said to put him on just pedialite for the next 12-24 hours, and cut out the breast milk for the next 24-48 hours. i guess there's too much sodium in breast milk, and he said they become a little lactose intolerant when they're sick. He also said to give him a little Emetrol, to help settle the tummy.
Well, something worked. Justin was getting back to his normal happy go lucky self when I got home from work this evening. I did nurse him though when I got home-he just wasn't taking too kindly to the idea of no mommy juice-which is the first thing he always gets when I get home from work. So far, it's stayed down. Keep your fingers crossed for me. He does still have the diahhrea though. Maybe he'll be staying home from church tomorrow. I don't feel like dealing with very leaky diapers in church.

hey, check out Ashley's blog!!

So, my sweet oldest daughter, Ashley, has created her own blog.
She would love it if anybody/everybody would check it out and leave her some comments.
Here's the address:

She posted a really cute little slide show that I think I'm gonna' have to steal!

Toothy smile

Here is the only picture I've managed to get so far with Justin and his new tooth.
Can you see it? It's hard to see, but if you click on the picture it becomes huge and then you can see it. :o) (I know you're just dying to see it)
Jason is getting his first tooth now, I'll try to get that one too.

Gone Fishing...

Well, today we let the girls play hookie from school,
Jon took a vacation day, and we went to Floyd Lamb State Park
to go fishing. It was a gorgeous day, except for the wind.
If it had just been breezy, we probably would have stayed longer.
As it was, we only stayed for a couple hours.

What did they catch?

Absolutely nothing!!

So, after two hours, we packed up, went home, dropped

everything off... and went to the mall.

Mothers Day Loot

Here's the cute stuff my sweet girls
made me for Mother's Day.
Aren't they sweet?
Ashley made me a booklet and a cute
pop-up card in school. In primary,
they made cute little necklaces.
Haley made me a bookmark, a card,
and a little clay dish in school. Along
with the sweet little necklace in primary.

Laundered with Love? no, wait, how about I LOVE MY MOMMY!!

Moms just know how to do things. I'm not referring to myself either, but to my own sweet mom. She's wonderful! She was in town last weekend. Her and dad spent a month in Tennessee visiting my sister, and were passing through town on their way home to CA. I had to work Saturday, but as I was leaving, mom asked if there was anything around the house she could do to help out while I was at work. Of course, my first response was "Naw, just relax and enjoy the day." She responded that she was happy to help out any way. So I told her about the mountain of laundry that had been accumulating all week. Somehow I fell way behind in that department that week. "O.K." She said cheerfully. Well, needless to say, when I got home from work she was finishing up the last couple loads. And let me tell you, my laundry smells great!! Why doesn't it smell that nice when I do it? Maybe I'm a little frugal with the fabric softener, or maybe it's just mom's special touch?

My mom is so t-double-e-double-r-double-r-double-i-double-f-double-i-double-c-c-c-Terrific!!!

  • She was here for me for the month after the babies were born-I don't know what I would have done without her.

  • she knits the warmest slippers almost every year for Christmas

  • she was my "protector" growing up (I was scared to death of my military man dad)

  • she taught me how to cook and clean and sew (don't hold my current cleaning skills against her though, I've just become really lazy)

  • she made sure I had the church in my life

  • she loves me despite the mistakes and bad choices I'v made

  • so many other things too numerous to mention.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM!

I love you!

catching up

Well, this past week, Justin got his first tooth. It's just barely broke the surface and I can't get a good picture of it yet.
Today was their 9 month check-up. Jason weighs 20 lb 4 oz and is 29 inches; Justin is 20 pounds and 28 inches. They're in about the middle percentile. They each got a Hep B shot. Neither was very happy about that, but Justin was quite disturbed by it-not a happy
camper. :o(
Today was Teacher Appreciation Day,and in honor of that Haley wanted to draw her teacher a picture. She drew a cute picture-with permanent black marker-which bled through the paper-onto my beautiful 6 month old dining table--to say the least I am very disturbed about that one. She is now banned from any and all magic markers for the rest of the year. I tried magic eraser on it-didn't do anything. Anybody have any suggestions for removing black marker without wrecking the wood finish?
The bird is still teasing Friday (my kitty cat). Still trying to catch it on film.

I tawt I saw a puddy tat!!

There's a bird who has it in for my cat, or maybe it's the other way around. I'll have to see who wins. It's so funny though, yesterday when I came home from work, I noticed this bird out in the front yard, he was sitting on the wire stake thing for my tomato plant, squawking up a storm. Then he starts flying around erratically kind of, and Friday (my cat) is out there and seriously, the bird is totally teasing her. He flies down close to her and then swoops up again and lands on the tomato plant stake. Well, he was out there again this morning doing the same thing. Friday just kind of takes it, but every now and then she lunges for him. I'm not sure if she's scared of him or just really annoyed. I'm dying to get a picture of the whole thing.
