I know the post is probably meant tongue-in-cheek, but the word nerd in me had to look it up.
There are several definitions for "contend." I'm thinking that the ones about quarreling, verbal strife, and the like are what the "contention is of the devil" parts mean.
Contending with the Lord, on the other hand, probably goes more with the other definitions: to strive earnestly, to make vigorous efforts, to endeavor, to urge one's course.
Oh no, the real question is, when you've SEEN an angel, and angel has WARNED you to stop being an abusive, obstinate rear end... why do you then tie your brother up?

You got me thinking. :)
Is this a trick question?
I guess I will never learn then. I do it all the time. I know he loves me though.
