morbid

Jon and the kids are going to go visit his mom soon. She's in California. I have to work that weekend, so I'll be staying home. :(
Two things about this:
  1. I should call in that weekend and enjoy some peace and quiet all to myself. :)
  2. Does anybody else entertain morbid thoughts on occasions like this? I keep wondering what I would do if they were in an accident, and I was left by myself. Would I run away and join the circus? Stop going to church and rail against God? Bury myself in work to try to keep the pain at bay? Immediately take myself to the temple and have them all sealed to me? Give up everything I own and travel to some third world country and pour myself in to service? These are all thoughts I've had on the subject. Am I a sick and demented person?
I pray that they return safely to me, then I can laugh at myself for being such a moron!

I think it's normal.
I'm leaving soon to go to China and my husband is planning some wild time at home! (That consists of watching TV then falling asleep)

I think it's normal to feel this way. I'm sure they'll be fine, just enjoy the time you have to yourself.

You should totally take the time off!

I think stuff like that sometimes too, even when they're all just going up to the mountains or something.

I would have the same thoughts!

Time off with everyone gone for the weekend would be very appealing for me. I might just ask for a day off.

Don't worry about your thoughts, they are perfectly normal for a mom.

You are not a moron. I plan Bob's funeral regularly-- how I would tell his dad, how I would hire someone to tell his mom. I was told once that it is a normal thing for women to do, we think far ahead to the worst outcome because it helps them to cope. Go figure.

Since I'm here so late, I know they're back safe so I'll just say I'm glad you didn't have to join the circus. :-)
