My heart faileth me

D&C 45:27 And the love of men shall wax cold, and iniquity shall abound.

So, lately. I've been having a real problem with other people. I have to wonder, is it them or is it me?

A few weeks back there was that little incident with the rude woman in the Walmart parking lot.

Tuesday at work, I had a nasty little conflict with a rude customer (hence, my last facebook post). I became rude too. I couldn't help myself. She would argue that I was rude first, but I honestly don't see it that way. I had to be rude to be heard and then things got ugly.

I'm finding it real hard these days to love my neighbor. I love my family, and all my bloggy buddies, and the wonderful people in my ward--but after that, I'm done. It's pretty easy to love the people who are kind to me, all the rest--not so much.

Do you think it's a sign of the times? I've blogged before about how it seems like people are just so unhappy these days. I know the economy has a lot to do with it. Perhaps that scripture about mans heart failing them means more than just heart attacks? I'm failing at loving my neighbor.

I think a lot of people are under more stress these days. Then when you throw hormones or just plain stupidness into it, it makes it even worse. And sometimes it's really really hard to be nice. I don't think you're failing at loving your neighbor. Some people just make it really hard to love them, or even tolerate them.

"I love these people... but i sure DONT LIKE THEM!!!!!"

dont be so hard on yourself. you're a great person Mikki. and i know that Heavenly Father is very proud of you :)

I think the older I get, the more I dig my feet in and refuse to be passive and let people be rude to me. Which, unfortunately, also means I can get rather snippy back.

I'm not sure Mikki. I have seen a ton of people in the ER lately who seem to be losing their coping skills.
There is a lot of junk going on in the world.

HUGS to you.

I haven't commented in a while Mikki but I do stop by. I think this was an interesting post. An interesting way of looking at that scripture. My suggestion would be that it could be a great experience to study this topic more in depth and pray for help in that area,..although I think you have a great heart for those around you and might have just ran into some extra dumb people. lol. :)
Wish you the best with this! :)

You're right about "hearts failing" doesn't mean heart attacks!
We're all under a lot of stress these days. I think of the time right after Christ came to the Nephites. Almost 4 generations passed away in peace and love before men's hearts failed! We need a good visit!

Oh man, I hear ya! We all have times like this!

Sometimes I find myself inwardly rolling my eyes at people who make a big deal out of something small and trivial.

I know, bad huh.

I find I sometimes need to take a step back and try to view things from their perspective instead of mine.

I know what you mean! Unfortunately my mantra is becoming, "I really hate people". You put it so much more Christlike :-)
