- I need to cut back a bit on my blogging. It takes up too much of my time. I'm thinking of cutting back to posting just three or four times a week. Or, maybe I'll still post everyday, because that's really not what's eating up all my time--ti's the reading and commenting. I love reading everyone's blogs though, so I'm not stopping altogether. I think that I might limit myself to 3 days a week on that. Of course, on those three days, I'll probably be on the computer for eight hours just getting caught up!! LOL Obviously, this is going to be a tough one to work out. But, I'm going to figure it out.
- I need to either get rid of my other blogs, or give them a little more attention. I haven't posted on the Family Home Evening blog much lately. Oh, and my recipe blog? I think it's been months since I posted there. And I do have a bunch of holiday recipes to post. SO, I've got to get busy. This of course means more blogging time, which really messes with my first goal up there.
- I cannot blog anymore until I have read my scriptures and said my morning prayer first. These two things need to become a priority for me.
- I need to focus a little more on having a life. And not just blogging about random nonsense.
So, that's all I've come up with so far.
How do you balance blogging with all your other stuff?

Cutting back on how many posts I post has helped a lot. I usually post 4 times a week, and not on the weekends anymore.
I also have gotten to the point where I don't feel like I have to comment on every single post of every single person. I still comment on probably 90% of posts, but that has also helped.
It's tricky! I'm fortunate to have a job that sometimes has a lot of downtime, so that's when I can comment.
I do the scripture and prayer thing too. I don't allow myself to even touch the computer until I've done those two things.
I've had to make my self cut back too. It is so addicting! And blogging isn't a bad thing becaues I always learn things or have my testimony strengthened or a good laugh, it's just time consuming.
Sooo this week I made a list of everything I needed to get accomplished daily, and it's helped me to be more productive because then I can check things off as they're done, and then when everything's done, I can blog and not feel guilty. I also find it helps me to close my google reader. Then I don't know how many new posts there are, and don't want to go read them right away. I keep my email open all day because my friends know they can reach me that way, but reader is closed while I'm getting things done.
I agree, its finding balance. I realized I can't comment on everyone's blog every day. I have a to do list before I can blog.
However, If I have a blog post or thought that I want. I can post that any time. I usually save it and use the post option.
I have been in computer land for awhile so I have a system that works for me. You will be able to find one that works for you.
You'll find what works for you. It's harder with little kids. Mikki you are obviously a very caring and insightful person. You'll be just fine and we support ya.
I'll email you today :)
I am still working out the balance thing. I have finally learned I don't have to post every day. That helps. I do get stuck reading and commenting. Oh well if I wasn't wasting time on the computer I would be wasting some other way -- like caring for my kidlets.
I am lucky and work from home so I can blog in between working. I try and blog when my hubby is at work and kids at school. I also sometimes find time to blog when my boys are at work. It helps that my boys are older and all teens now. Pray about it and things will work out! Do what is best for you and your family :) ♥ Hugs!
I had to seriously cut back on my commenting too. That is what takes up all the time-- the reading and commenting on peoples blogs. ya know?
I feel your pain... hopefully you will find a good, healthy balance.
I try to not turn the computer on until I have done some chores-- then I reward myself-- but once i have had my allowed time, I turn the computer off and walk away.
Word Ver: Boate. The person doing this must be british!
I cut down on posting to 3-4 times a week. Because even though it is easy to do you still have comments that come in and questions to answer.
AND and this is the big one. I get up early 3 times a week just to blog or to get other important things done around the house.
There can be a "happy" balance but the main focus should always be on your family and your home.
I am not wonder woman-But I am striving to be better.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
I go through phases where I post often and then not as much. I try to always comment on those I've been reading the longest and on those I know personally. Others I comment a little less. I don't know that I have balance, but I do know that I don't spend my entire day doing this. I only allow myself the downtime of sitting in front of my computer when I have nothing else to do. My house still gets cleaned, the children are not neglected and dinner gets made.
It is amazing how time flies when you get on a computer! There are days I'm in my pj's until afternoon! Ooops, today looks like one of those days!
Good luck, I think we've all had to figure out how to work blogging into our lives. I know that I got a little obsessed and then had to figure out how to work back into my normal life. You'll get there.
*hugs*
I find it's the reading and commenting that stresses me. The writing helps (you know, like keeping a journal). I threaten to step back daily, so I completely understand your feelings.
As for question, I don't balance, that's the problem.
seriously Mikki. i KNOW the feeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree, the real time is in the reading and commenting. I have tried to cut back to just reading the blogs that I really love and that inspire me. I have cut back on my comments, too, only commenting if I actually have something to say. I do try and visit everyone who comments on my blog, but I only do it every week or two. It saves lots of time. Oh, and using a blog reader has really helped too!
you are so funny....
i wish we lived closer and then we would have some fun in real life and then we could blog about it! ♥ ha ha!!!!
excellent post, mikki. i have been there too. i don't read and comment as much as i used to. as for scripture and prayer, i'm glad i popped in today. you remind me that i need to tune back in to my morning meditations. thanks!
Blogging is very addictive. I only look at blogs when I feel like I am caught up on everything else. You are amazing to run as many blogs as you do.
It so can take up time! My goal is to at least record our events, and moments that might not remembered - then throw in a few fun craft posts when possible! I think your blog is very fun and has a little bit of everything crafty and homie (is this a word?) Take care and happy blog! Love, MIchelle
The not blogging until you read your scriptures goal? GENIUS. I'm starting that tomorrow.
I hear ya! I haven't been able to keep up with everyone as much as I would like to because it does take up such a huge amount of time.
I just got your comment and yes!!! I'm at the very uncomfortable stage now and not getting much sleep. Between the discomfort and the anxiety it's hard to relax. Did you get my goofy, panicked email I sent you a while ago? I seriously am in awe of how you do it all!!!!
