What I've learned over the past 200+ posts

  • First and foremost, I've learned I'm addicted to blogging. I spend probably 3-4 hours a day reading through other blogs and leaving comments. Maybe I'm just a really slow reader. Most of that time is spent in the evenings after the kids go to bed. This means I generally don't get to be until after eleven o'clock each day. And I wonder why my hubby thinks he's neglected?

  • I have learned there are many really, really wonderful people out there. My heart has been gladdened by the many wonderful acts of kindness I observed in the days and weeks following the plane crash that left Stephanie (of the Nienie Dialogues) and Christian Nielson in the hospital. There are various other blogs that I have come across as well, that are about precious families dealing with very difficult circumstances. I have been inspired by them all. You can find some of them here, and here--truly amazing people. Really.

  • I learned how to include a link in my post. I had to borrow a book from the library to do it, but hey, whatever it takes right?

  • I've learned that I have a lot to say, even if most of it doesn't make sense to anybody but me. I've also learned that there are lots of kind people who leave me a comment anyway, just because they're nice.

  • I've learned that I'm a comment junkie. The comments shouldn't really matter to me, but they do. I love receiving them. (I think I just answered your question Shauna--oops. I'll still include it in my answer post next week) I'm not sure why either. Is it because I want to be popular, or do I just like receiving validation?

  • I've learned that I still have a problem finishing things. I've started several other blogs, and then stopped adding posts to them. I need to either delete them, or give them a little more attention. (Like I can afford to lose any more time to the blogosphere).

  • I've learned I really need to get my priorities in order.

And now for a few things I still need to figure out:

  • How do you do those cute little hearts in the posts?
  • How do you put a youtube video in a post?
  • How do you change what it says at the bottom of your blog posts--you know where it shows how many comments you have?
  • Is there a way to have my blog remember the signature I might want to include at the end of each of my posts, or do I have to stick that html code into each and every post?
  • How to prioritize
  • I'm sure I'm forgetting tons of other things I want to learn how to do.

So there you have it. What have you learned from blogging?

Now for my thankful thing:

I am thankful for Harry and Esther Snyder. Who are they? you ask.....well, they're the founders of In-n-Out Burgers. If you've read my blog for very long, you know I have an obsession with In-n-Out. I think Harry was inspired of the Lord to create the In-n-Out cheeseburger, and I'm so thankful that he did. :o) I truly enjoyed my cheeseburger on my way home from work tonight. Every last gloriously delicious bite. I hope there's an In-n-Out in Heaven (assuming I make it there of course!).

Have a happy Friday everyone!

What a lovely post. THANK YOU!!!
I learn tons of stuff on how to deal with html codes, and other things on this website,..
http://bloggerfordummies.blogspot.com
His blog is very easy to understand and covers a wide range of topics. See his labels on the right side and go look for what you want to do. Good luck! Thanks for those links.:) Links in posts are like finding a dollar in your winter coat. So fun!
And,..I have never had an In-and out cheeseBurger? Hmmm...I need to try it. I have heard about it lots from others too.
Have a great Weekend and Sabbath!

I have never had the fortune of eating an in and out burger :( Sounds so good. I know that it is fun to blog, but it does require time. All hobbies do though.

The hearts I can teach you. Just hold down the Alt button, and touch your side number 3

That's it ♥♥. If you want other things, try holding the Alt and pushing the other numbers too.

☺ ☻ ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ • ◘ ○ these are 1-9 numbers.

You tubes are a little harder though. Go to the video you want to copy on your blog. There is a place to the right side of the video that has a row that holds the code. Right click on the longer code. Make sure you get the whole code. Then go to new posts, click the htlm button by compose. right click paste. And voile', you have a you tube on your blog. It won't show up in the box, so click hide all, and you will see it there. Good luck learning all thise little things.

Dang, I was going to tell you how to do the Youtube inclusion. You want to look for the "Embed" code of the video. Then do what Jan said! You have to look through your own HTML code to find where to change your comment area. And I have to copy and paste my "signature" every time. Would love to know if there is a way to do it differently.

to make hearts:
press the ALT {hold it down} and puch the 3 on your number pad. the 3 at the top of your keyboard will not work for some reason.... ony the number pad. and you can make other little symbols, too by doing the same thing with the other numbers! :) have fun!!!!

you need to go to pam mcewen's blog she has all the answers in a post.

yes, you can have your signature html permanently pop up for every post.
go to dashboard
click on settings
scroll to bottom where it reads
POST template
insert your signature HTML there and click save.
VOILA, your sig is automatically on every post.

I forgot how to change the comment on the front page,

mine says hatched by mother goose and for comments it reads # geese honking.

but, I can't remember how I did it.
I want to make my blog where you can copy pictures and I can't remember how to take that feature off. currently I can't copy anything from my blog. and I want to give out awards but nobody can get them because I put the no copy protector on my blog.

Mikki, to change the comment name on your post, go to Layout, and then the post link, and all of that stuff will pop up.

I'm addicted to comments too. I don't know why either. Probably the same reasons you listed.
I am a blog-a-holic too. I spend about an hour and a half reading them and commenting. About 20-30 minutes on mine. And I have 3 that I manage or write for. But I don't see myself giving it up anytime soon.
I'm so glad that you asked those questions because that's the same stuff I don't know how to do.!!!
Since starting a blog, almost 1 year ago, I've learned, how to start a blog, how to change my blog background, how to upload pics, how to change some of the things in my customize section, etc. But I still don't know how to do any of the technical stuff, like making buttons, etc.
Keep up the great work. I'm going to scroll back up and copy all your advice now. (But P.S. the control 3 thing doesn't work on macs. I already tried.)
*hugs*

I've learned that I'm not alone. There are lots of people out there just like me. That's a nice thing to know. ♥ I've also just learned how to make a heart. Thanks for the info.

I'm glad so many people know that answer to your questions. Especailly the little hearts, and the youtube thing.
To change the comments or whatever on the bottom, it somewhere in your dashboard. I played around in there until I found it. I could probably find it again if I tried. I think it's in settings?
I'll go figure it out and then come back and tell you....

p.s. I was totally going to copy you on the 200 posts, but then the last post I wrote I noticed was my 201st post! I thought I had more time. I wasn't prepared. Maybe I'll do 300 posts, or 250 or something.

ps. Word verification: fishiess (is that like a princess fishie?)

Ok, I went back in there and can't find it. I don't know how I did it. Sorry. Hopefully, someone else remembers how to do it, or you figure it out.
♣♥ Yeah, I learned something new!!!☺

hatched by
scribbled by
written by

then underneath the time stamp is where you have your comments

# and then mine reads geese honking

or you could put anything you desire.

Where thanks to you I found a new button. I love it! thanks so much for making me research this!!

I think everyone answered the questions I was going to try to answer. Cocoa had a great tutorial about putting a signature on the bottom of your post here: http://chocolateonmycranium.blogspot.com/2008/10/changed-my-signature.html

That is what I used to put the signature on the bottom of my posts.

I like comments too! Who does not? If you write a blog just for yourself you might as well keep it private.

Anyway I am back (yesssssssss) in this way that I am back blogging ;o)
On the plane I saw the movie you talked about a while ago "Mamma Mia" and it was good. I want it! LOL

Man...I've been too busy this week...look at all the awesome things you have been doing!!! I loved this post and I also love In-n-Out. I will be so sad when we move away from Arizona where In-n-Outs are plentiful and the cheeseburgers are delightful!!!
