How do you....

retire your scriptures?Do you throw them away? I can't bring myself to just toss the word of the Lord into the trash can. Do you burn them, like the flag? These are my seminary scriptures, so I guess you could say they're a few years old. These are the ones I read from almost every night. Can you tell? They've definitely seen better days, and they're becoming a bit of a nuisance to try to read from. But how do I get rid of them? Maybe I should just store them away somewhere.
How do you dispose of old scriptures?

I literally have the same scriptures I got when I was baptized, 24 years ago. I've had them rebound once.

I say put them in a gallon ziplock bag and put them someplace safe.
Years from now your kids are going to love looking through them, seeing what you marked, comments in the margins. They'll be awesome.
I have my grandpa's scriptures that he took on his mission. If grandpa were still alive he would be over 100 years old. I never knew him so those scriptures are precious to me.

I'm with the above commenter, KEEP THEM! Your posterity will thank you.

This caught my eye right away because we are having the same dilemma. My husbands scriptures are falling apart and he is getting new ones - what to do with the old ones?
It feels kind of like you are doing something wrong to throw them away. I like the idea of putting them in a bag and saving them.
Good question. I will check back to see what other comments you get.

Have a Happy Easter!

Some sets you can give away if they are still usable, if they have sentimental value I think you should keep them, even if they can't be read anymore. Something like a wedding dress or a baby blanket. They can mark an important period in your life and they will demonstrate to you posterity their importance.

I have always kept mine stored away somewhere. I have my seminary set. A college set. And now the Easter bunny is bringing me a new set ;)

that is neat above about the grandpa!

It made me thing - you should write a "posterity" letter and keep it with your scriptures. Like a last testimony about how you love reading and gained a testimony about --------etc...

I think I am going to do that. It would have been neat to see it from each set I have "retired".

I love you & your blog!
