So, I need suggetions for music on my food blog. I want to do a playlist with songs related to food. But, I can't think of too many (probably because there aren't many).
So, if you can think of some, please share. Thanks. :P

My lamp nees oil !!
I've been thinking a lot about food storage and preparedness lately. I think it started after my aunt forwarded an email she had received about the bird flu, and a quarantine that might be enforced across the nation. I have no idea if there's any truth to it, probably just someone's intention to get people on the ball where food storage is concerned. So, I hadn't really thought about it much until this past week, they've been talking on the news about food shortages-mostly rice and wheat, I guess in Europe; also, with the way things are going in general lately, and the big concern that a recession is looming. (was that a run-on sentence or what?) Anyway, I have definitely been lax in the preparation department. I have some stuff that I purchased in the past couple of years when there have been canning projects in the ward. I'd say if it came down to it we could probably go a few weeks with what's up there. Water, however would be a problem. I don't have any back-up there. Aside from finances, I guess my biggest hurdle is where to store it all. I don't think the garage is a good place. Where do you store your food storage? Any suggestions?
I think this week, I'll be looking into expanding what I have on hand. I think I'll recover all my empty soda bottles from the garage, clean them out and fill them up with water. (yes there are quite a few, I'm a die-hard Pepsi addict.)

COHESIVE, COHESIVE, COHESIVE
Why is it that the year after you have a baby, your mind turns to mush? I can hardly ever speak a cohesive sentence lately, let alone put together a cohesive thought (and no, I couldn't think of another word to use, so I just used cohesive again).
Anywhoo, I forgot what I was going to blog about. See, total mush. My daughter is laughing at me about this mush-brain thing. Just wait Ashley, it's gonna' happen to you someday!! LOL
Justin is learning how to wave. I showed him the other day, and then yesterday I called his name, and he just started waving--at himself, with a big smile on his sweet little pudgy wudgy face. I must be tired, because I'm acting dopey; who is, by the way, my favorite dwarf. Jason has begun to crawl the normal way every now and then, instead of the "army" crawl.
We've all been a little sick this week. Ashley has had a minor head cold. The boys both have had yucky noses. Justin got some sort of 24 hour bug, as did Haley. She had to stay home from school Thursday. Jon and I both have also had a touch of that bug I think. I think we're all on the mend. So, it wasn't as bad as I initially thought it would be when I blogged about it the other day. I actually got more rest than I expected to.
So, I hope I've been able to put a cohesive thought down here tonight. :p

Now what's going around?
So, both the babies woke up this morning with yucky runny noses. Jon said they were a little runny all weekend, but I had to work, so I guess I didn't really see it. By the time I got home both Saturday and Sunday evening, it was bedtime for them. Jon came home early from work today because he wasn't feeling too well. Then, this afternoon Justin started throwing up. So far, he hasn't kept anything down. I'm hoping it's just one of those quick little bugs that pass within 24 hours. We'll see how he does tomorrow. Now I get to look forward to Jason, Ashley and Haley catching it. Oh joy!

brings back memories...
So, I was just creating a playlist to add to this blog. Man I love all the stuff we can add on here. Anyway, I'm going through music by ABBA and some of my favorites from the 80's, and I flash back in time to when my sister and I used to dance in the basement to ABBA. We had such fun. I remember too, that we weren't always private with our dancing moments either. When we lived in Ivins, I remember dancing on the front lawn. Funny how kids have no inhibitions. I'm mortified just thinking about it. LOL

Sleep--What's that?
OK, so my precious little darling baby boys woke up at 4:30 this morning. This seems to be about their usual wake up time. It's 7:05 now, and they've been back to sleep for about 15 minutes. I really need to learn to get to bed earlier. Of course, last night I had to work, so that wasn't a possibility, but other nights--I need to be in bed by ten at the latest. We put them to bed around 7-7:30 usually. Maybe it's too early, but they stayed up till 9:00 the other day, and were still up around 4. So, I don't know. I have to get the girls up in about 20 minutes for school, otherwise I'd be going back to bed myself. It's just as well-I'd just be really cranky when I got up again. :>)
So, here's my list of things to do today:
So, here's my list of things to do today:
- get the girls off to school
- do the dishes
- vacuum the floor
- play with the babies
- sweep/mop the kitchen
- clean my bathroom
- laundry (at least 2 loads)
- play with the babies
- call my VT companion
- walk to the store for a few things
- get supper ready
- go to work :<(
I'll probably get maybe, two things on that list done-the girls to school and go to work. j/k
Hopefully I'll at least get the dishes and the laundry done-those are my usual accomplishments each day.
Guess I should get started, sitting here isn't getting it done. :>)

3 essential things
Sometimes I wonder how my kids are ever gonna' make it back to our Father in Heaven. Not because of anything they do, mind you, but because of what a lousy example I am to them. More often than not, I forget about Family Home Evening, family scripture study and family prayer.
Ya' know, if there's one thing in this life I would like to succeed at, it's getting all four of my precious little one's back to Heavenly Father. In order to do that, it takes more than just going with the flow. It requires a real concerted effort. Up to now, I've just been too lazy I think. But I need to stop that, and put forth the effort. So, right now I'm stating publicly that I intend to do better. I'm setting a goal to have Family Home Evening every week for the rest of the year. I'm also going to make more of an effort to follow through with family prayer and scripture study.
I don't know if I'll ever make it to the temple myself, (another goal I need to work on), but my greatest desire is to see that my children make it there someday.
Does anybody else struggle with these 3 essentials?

Deep Thoughts
Here's a conversation between Haley and me today. I don't remember thinking things out this much when I was her age-6 yrs old. It went like this.
Haley: Who were the first people on Earth?
Me: Adam and Eve
Haley: I'm kind of confused.
Me: About what?
Haley: were they married?
Me: Yes, Heavenly Father married them.
Haley: Did they have kids?
Me: Yes, I guess they had lots of kids.
Haley: I'm kind of confused.
Me: About what?
Haley: Did their kids have babies?
(I can just see the little wheels turning inside her head. )
Me: Yes
Haley: I'm kind of confused
Me: About what?
Haley: who did they marry?
Me: I guess the brothers and sisters had to marry each other.
Haley: Eeeuuww!!!

Eeeewwww!!!!
O.K. so, I'm letting the boys play on the floor in the living room before their bedtime. I'm in the kitchen cleaning out the pantry/compiling my grocery list so I can hit the store tonight and stock up for the week. The kitchen overlooks the living room, so I have a birds eye view of the boys, and they're totally cool, amusing themselves-nobodies screaming. I'm thinking "cool! they're just hanging out and not whining for me to be right there playing with them-I can get this done real quick, get them to bed and hit the store."
So, I go to grab something from my purse and I smell the distinct odor of baby poo.
OK, I need to stop and change someone's daiper. I head back to the kitchen to finish whatever little thing I'm doing and happen to glance over at the boys. There's Justin, with Jason's poop on/in his little hands and the hand is headed for his mouth!!! I start freaking out. "No Justin, stop. No Justin No!!" I start yelling. Needless to say, there was quite a little mess to clean up.
I hope you can't get sick from eating poop. I don't know how much he consumed. I don't think it was much, just a taste. He did manage to smear it all over Jason's back, and on himself a little as well. I hope this isn't indicative of twins or boys in particular. I think Jason had leaked out the back of his diaper, and Justin just happened to look over and think to himself "Hmm, what's this? Let me check it out. " ... and that he did....
Please don't report me to child protective services.

Spa Night
We gave each other manicures and pedicures the other night. Here is mine. Ashley painted my toes for me. Not bad. Funny how one of my feet looks wider than the other. Maybe it's the camera angle? Here is Ashley's. Haley started it for her, and I should have taken that picture too, the nail polish started at her knuckles and went down to her finger tips. It reminded me of that Lay's potato chip commercial where the girl is getting a manicure. The texture looked about the same. This is it after I cleaned it up a bit.
Here is Haley's. The next day, she took great delight in removing half the nail polish from both fingers and toes, saying she was doing an AB pattern-she's been learning about patterns in kindergarten. Don't kids have the cutest hands and feet?
