Dear Rude Customer I have occasionally,

Ok, I know the customer is always right, but I think good manners are always in order. So, just a few pointers:
  • When you're greeted by a sales clerk, you know, they say "Hi, how are you?" It's ok, really, to smile and say "Hi" right back. Just looking at them with a blank expression on your face? Not so polite.
  • When that same clerk asks you "How did you enjoy the exhibit?"--saying "No thanks, I'm just looking" isn't really an appropriate response.

--Just saying, that's all.

gotta love retail.

on the other hand if you are ringing up a sell it is okay to make eye contact with the customer.

I REALLY enjoy it when a cashier asks me how I'm doing and doesn't wait for my answer! It happened to me twice when I was pregnant last...it wasn't pretty.

I hear ya' Annjilla and Lene. Yeah, I think a lot of improvement is needed these days in the area of retail sales help.

That just totally makes me laugh. I worked retail for a long time and a lot of people will just pretend they didn't hear me or something. Some people are so rude!

I know. Right?
I love it when they ask you how you are and then don't wait for your answer.

Your right on this one! There are a lot of unhappy people in the world right now.

I will keep your count down on mind so as to think of you. My first experience was disturbing. The more I read about it the more I realize that it was really because I was not well prepared, this is why I really long to go back. *sigh* Not before I am allowed to wear my Gs again, not even for baptisms.

About your customer thing I must say that I am either normal or really nice to people working in stores but they are not always nice to me. A few weeks ago I really had it and I got a really nice sales clerk and told her how much I appreciate her smile and how nice she was to the clients.
Yeah...when I get mad in this kind of situation I like to emphasize the good things or the good in people because it uplifts the people who are doing good and it usually brings lower those who don't unless they want to change.

Have you ever been checking out at a store and they ask your zip code (to put into the computer)? When that happens to me, I'll ask the checkout gal what her zip code is - you should see the look on their faces - LOL!
