Well, thought I'd just post a little of what's happening in the household lately. Both of my little guys now have two bottom teeth and are working on the top front ones now. They don't seem too cranky though, thank goodness.
Yesterday, after I got off work, we went to my brother in law's house for my niece's sweet sixteen birthday party. Laura, his wife, is the most awesome cook. She made beef and chicken tacos, lots and lots of them. they were so good. She makes terrific spanish rice, which Haley loves to eat. She won't eat my rice, but she loves Aunt Laura's. I can't blame her. Everything Laura makes is fantastic. She made chili verde this past Christmas. It was to die for!
Jason has started trying to take a few steps! Yay! He doesn't really try them on his own, but with some encouragement. It's so cute.
I was ironing some little shirts for my little guys to wear to church this morning. I started thinking about how in about 11 years I'll be ironing their white shirts so they can pass the sacrament. I love the thought of having them hold the priesthood. I think that was one of my first thoughts when I found out I was having boys--how cool to have the priesthood in our home. Jon does hold the Aaronic priesthood, but he's not active (more like, not really converted I should say), so I guess I don't think it's the same, (sigh) maybe some day.
I have to decide what to try to organize tomorrow. There's so much, I don't know where to start. If I look around the house right now, I get very discouraged, because the whole place is ransacked!!!
Sister Rasmussen called me this week. She wanted to know if she could take pictures of the boys with some new props she got. Of course, I said yes. Her photography is awesome. So, we scheduled an appointment for the 17th. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Hopefully Jason and Justin will cooperate.
I suppose I should be hitting the hay. The boys wake up every morning at 4:45 like clockwork. Last night, they even stayed up until 9:30, and still this morning--4:45!! Any suggestions on getting them to sleep in later? Or is this just one of those situations where I pick my battles?--Just be grateful to get them to sleep through the night, and go to bed a little earlier myself. I'm afraid that's probably the only solution. So, I'd best be off to bed.

I saw your cute little shirts today! And thought....how fun would it be to have a little boy! I am praying for you guys all the time and if you ever need to "borrow" a priesthood holder let me know!! ;)

oh... the sleeping thing. When my girls would not sleep in I would put them to bed early!! because no matter what they would wake up at 5:00. So down for bed they would go right after dinner time. Even now that they are getting older we have bed time around 6:30 and they sleep all night! I think one of the biggest problems with grumpy kids is sleep deprivation! So do not feel bad if you put them down for a 14 hour sleep night! We do it all the time! and they will still take naps! (I believe it is a learned behavior I have trained them from the beginning to sleep soundly in their beds)

and i feel the same about organizing! my house EXPLODED! So remember....lets keep it simple! ;) Let's do something small that has not been touched for months...but needs a nice lift! I am going to go find mine right now...and i think it is going to be somewhere in my bathroom.

Thanks Jamie...on all 3 counts. Good idea--keep it simple. I'm going to try to remember the mary/martha thing too, and not get too stressed. :} OK,now off to bed I go, for real.

I get my kids to sleep in later by putting a Sound Machine or Fan in their room & making sure it is really DARK in there....

the sound machine / fan blocks out noises from around the house that might wake them up.

it has worked for me like a Charm :) It's worth a Shot :)

Thanks Merrianne. We do have a cd player in there, and we play a lullabye cd all night. But, maybe they need white noise? Maybe I'll try the fan. Thanks!

Mikki it sounds like you have a lot to keep you busy just take it one thing at a time. About the boys my friend has a noise maker that she got at wal-mart she loves for her little girl. What I had to do with Bailey when she would wake at 4:00 is I would give her her pacifier turn on her music and let her cry it out if she didn't got right back to sleep. I knew she wasn't hungry and was still tired, after awhile she didn't wake up until 7:00. It's hard sometimes and with twins I don't know how it would work. I hope you find something that works for you guys.

Thanks Nicole. I'll probably have to tough it out, and let them cry it out til they fall back asleep. I have tried that once or twice, and I think it usually ended up working, that or I just tuned them out and went back to sleep myself. LOL I'll try it again, maybe with consistency, they'll get used to sleeping later.

Gotta second Nicole on that one. Let them cry it out! It took me 18 months to get Carson to sleep through the night because I wasn't consistent about letting him cry at night. When I finally made myself do it, he cried for a few less minutes each night until one night there was blissful silence! I still kept the monitor next to the bed so I could see that he was ok. The only time I went in then was when I could see something was wrong (arm stuck in the bed rail, throwing up....) Good luck :)

BTW - you need to post Laura's Chili Verde recipe!!!!
