when all else fails

This is calling to me today. I had to get out of here, probably six times during the night. :o(

Jason was teething last week--little cranky pants for the whole week. I thought we were finally done with it, he was sleeping better for a couple days, and wasn't nearly as crabby. But last night, he was up every couple hours for some reason. I really don't think it's still the tooth.

All I can say is thank goodness for this....
Chocolate from France. Got these sweet treats in the mail last week. Thanks G !! I'll really try to be good and not eat it all today. I'm trying to save the purple box for truly special occasions. But the other one, well it might be gone in the next hour or so.

It is supposed to be Oprah. Although she is not my favorite, she was the best they had to choose from.

backandthen: (blushing) what can I say? In my defense, it's super good, and it was a "special" occasion. ;o)
mrs. mcfarland: Ooohh! Ok, now I see the resemblance.

I'm almost positive there's an herbal supplement you can find at Whole Foods that'll do the trick for tooth pain &/ teething. Here's what I've found:

http://www.parenttime.com/babyarticles/teethingnaturalrelief.html

"Other natural remedies include herbs and oils, which can alleviate pain or help your baby calm down and get to sleep. One common remedy for the pain of toothache and teething is clove oil. Cloves contain oils that have warming, numbing properties, so that even holding a whole clove against a sore tooth with your tongue can ease the pain long enough to get to your dentist. Clove oil can be rubbed on sore gums to relieve pain, but only use a tiny amount: too much can upset your baby's stomach. Other homemade remedies include letting your infant chew on a natural licorice stick (the herb, not candy!) You can find natural licorice in health food stores: real licorice feels cool and also numbs the gums when your baby chews on it."

"The third way this remedy may work is in the calming properties of vanilla itself. Vanilla is known as a soothing yet energizing agent that reduces anxiety and promotes feelings of well-being. Besides that, vanilla has long been used to cure stomach distress: a baby whose stomach is mildly upset from crying or swallowing large amounts of drool may find vanilla soothing to the tummy as well as the nerves."

Mikki, hope all is better tonight for him and you! not fun when the bed calls your name all day. As for the chocolate! yum! I love french chocolate! The chocolate aisles there are covered on both sides as long as one of our normal aisles that has lots of different stuff! Its crazy!! Enjoy it and yes, save it for special times and after dinner for sure.

I hope Jason is alright. Maybe he has an ear infection. My boys never sleep through the night when they don't feel well. Good luck tonight!

I totally feel your pain. My youngest is not much of a sleeper sometimes. Although, he is much better now than he was, but at 2 1/2 he's still teething so we still have those nights on occasion!!!

May your children take a long nap today so you can take those yummy chocolates and curl up with them in bed!!!!!

Thank you for bring me back to reality. I was, again, starting to think that maybe I might be able to handle another baby, then your helped me remember being up all night and teething, and I think I'll pass.
But, good luck with that.
